In Jakob Bradshaw Productions

The purpose of this site will evolve over time depending on what it is that I want to do, but as of right now it has a simple purpose. I started this site as a small online portfolio so I can showcase my work, and bring together my brand. Secondly, I realized I wanted to have a blog, where I would talk about the world of design and show what I am doing on a regular basis. I launched the site in March of 2015, and it fits my purposes at the moment.

Future Plans

As I was building the site, I got to thinking what it was that I really wanted to do with it. Yes, I wanted to showcase my work, but what if I could help others build their skills as a designer? My next step in the development of the site is to start a tutorial series for Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and web development. You can learn a lot studying in school about design and techniques, but many of the finer skills are learned on your own. I spent countless hours watching video tutorials on every program I was interested in. This helped me in ways that I know college couldn’t have. Because its personal. You watch tutorials that YOU are interested in, making the material fun and enjoyable.

Along with a tutorial series, I want to create my own fonts. Typography and fonts have always been fascinating to me. I get obsessed over fonts, use them in most of my designs, and then move to the next set. Designing is about taking information and customizing it in a way that makes it unique. It only makes sense to take that information and give it a unique font.

An online shop is on my list of things I want added to this site. Freelancing is a great way to really put your mark on the design community. Have a project that needs done quickly and beautifully? I’m your guy. I am looking forward to having an online shop for people to buy illustrations and other graphic design.

What’s next?

These are just a few of the ideas that are floating around in my head. First, I need to get the rest of my work on the site. Afterwards, I’d like to start messing around with fonts and creating tutorials that are fun.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions in the comments below! If you like what you see, why not give my Facebook page a like and follow me on Twitter!

Thanks for reading,

Jakob
